Zero-Footprint Deployment for Easy Install and Immediate ROI
Easy to implement, easy to use, easy to avoid pitfalls others have fallen into. Xangati doesn’t need expensive agents or probes and implements in an ESX in under 30 minutes —not weeks or months.

Here are some examples of issues that Xangati has uncovered on the first day of deployment:

  • Unscheduled back-ups clogging the WAN for SAP
  • Misconfigured VoIP call processes dragging down call center productivity
  • Misconfigured VLAN sending non-secure traffic into secure area
  • Citrix server clusters not being properly load-balanced
  • Misconfigured iSCSI/NFS storage
  • VM causing network surges

Installs in under 30 Minutes
Xangati for ESX and Xangati Management Dashboard Standard and Enterprise are delivered as virtual appliances and considered just another endpoint in your infrastructure.  Xangati can be deployed to provide visibility from just one ESX to all ESXs and all physical IPs to anything in—between.  Xangati for ESX comes with a free trial.  Xangati Management Dashboard Enterprise Plus is delivered as a physical appliance for very large environments with extensive subscriber counts, extensive identity or remote object viewer needs or where a virtual appliance is just not desired.

Passively Summarizes Communications and Collects Flow Data
Once configured the system begins to operate "out of the box" thanks to its reliance exclusively on pre-existing data sources already within your infrastructure. A primary source of information is Flow data created by Xangati summarizing virtual communications or its "flow data" equivalents sFlow, cFlow, jFlow, NetFlow and IPFIX.  These solutions are protocols that can run natively on routers and switches and capture summary information about every IP to IP communication that traverses these devices. This incredibly rich information is often generated in the hardware processors of the routers/switches and can be continuously pushed to an appliance like Xangati to leverage the data. This push model allows a single Xangati Management Dashboard to passively receive data about all devices and interactions across the entire infrastructure. Xangati Management Dashboard Standard can only process flows from Xangati for ESXs but the Enterprise and Enteprise Plus Dashboards can accept any combination of flows from Xangati for ESXs and physical switches/routers.

Identifying All Your Resources
While having flow data is important to understand activity in its raw form, Xangati's system tries to "put a name to a face" by binding fixed identities like device names to IP addresses which are more often than not, dynamically allocated. To do this Xangati simply leverages standing directories/databases that are within your infrastructure like vCenter for virtual machines and ESX hosts. Xangati has connectors for Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, RADIUS and the Calix Management System as well for physical object identities. In cases where these solutions may not apply, Xangati can also leverage SNMP to help tie the vendor specific MAC address of a device to an IP address. The result is that one knows not only about all application interactions, but which specific devices over time that are driving them.

Complementing Existing Management Solutions
The Xangati solution can be directly connected with your existing manager of manager (MOM) solutions from IBM, HP, CA, BMC, etc. through the generation of either syslogs or traps generated by specific classes of events deemed relevant to you that you want these solutions to process. And of equal importance, the Xangati solution is a complement to the standing investments that you have made in agents and probes. Xangati helps you understand the details behind what is driving the load that is hitting the CPU cycles that your agents are measuring. The Xangati solution can also help you best determine what incremental investments you might need to make in these technologies—given the high cost of agents, it is best to understand first what areas need more specific device-level coverage first.
